DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Drake University’s head athletic trainer says he was abruptly fired after 31 years when a medical condition forced him to urinate in a training room. Scott Kerr filed a complaint Tuesday against Drake with the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, alleging disability and age discrimination.

Kerr said that he developed a medical condition that gave him sudden urges to urinate. He said that as he was working Aug. 29, he urinated in a tank that he was cleaning out. He believed he was alone and thoroughly cleaned the tank afterward.

But someone else saw what happened. Kerr says he reported it to administrators days later. Kerr said he was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate, and hoped Drake would accommodate his condition. But he was fired by athletic director Sandy Hatfield Clubb.
