Kawasaki’s sac fly leads Iowa to 3-2 win over Memphis

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Munenori Kawasaki hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, driving in Taylor Davis with the go-ahead run, as the Iowa Cubs beat the Memphis Redbirds 3-2 on Tuesday. Davis scored after he reached base on a walk and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt.
Stephen Bruno hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead. The Redbirds came back to take the lead in the fifth inning when Efren Navarro hit a two-run single. Iowa tied the game 2-2 in the fifth when Bijan Rademacher hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Tommy La Stella.
Jose Rosario (1-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Corey Littrell (1-4) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game. Gerardo Concepcion retired the side in order for his first save of the season. Breyvic Valera singled twice, also stealing a base for the Redbirds.
