Hazardous Weather Outlook for the KJAN listening area (7/19)

MONONA-HARRISON-SHELBY-POTTAWATTAMIE-MILLS-MONTGOMERY-FREMONT-and PAGE COUNTIES…
TODAY AND TONIGHT: THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY THIS MORNING ACROSS THE OUTLOOK AREA AND MAINLY FROM NORTHEAST NEBRASKA INTO WESTERN IOWA. A FEW STORMS COULD LINGER INTO THE AFTERNOON ESPECIALLY ON THE FRINGES OF OUR OUTLOOK AREA TOWARD SOUTH DAKOTA AND HARLAN IOWA. MOST STORMS THIS MORNING SHOULD REMAIN BELOW SEVERE LEVELS.
SHOULD STORMS LINGER THIS AFTERNOON THEY COULD BECOME STRONG TO SEVERE WITH A MORE FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT. DAMAGING WINDS,
LIGHTNING AND LARGE WOULD BE THE PRIMARY HAZARDS.
WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY: HOT AND HUMID WEATHER IS EXPECTED BY MID TO LATE WEEK WITH AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES RISING TO 105 TO 110 IN MANY AREAS. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON. A COLD FRONT WILL PUSH INTO THE AREA SATURDAY, HOWEVER HOT TEMPERATURES WILL BE FOUND AHEAD OF THE FRONT.
THERE IS A CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY FOR PARTS OF THE AREA. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE FRIDAY WITH SCATTERED STORMS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.
CASS AND OTHER AREA COUNTIES:
THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE TODAY INTO TONIGHT. AN ISOLATED SEVERE STORM WITH DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL MAY OCCUR. IN ADDITION LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE.
AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE AREA.
