ISU’s Morris among final 5 for Bob Cousy Award

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State junior Monté Morris has been named one of the Final 5 candidates for the Bob Cousy Award, presented annually to the nation’s top point guard by the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Entering this week’s Big 12 Championship, Morris is averaging 14.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and a league-leading 7.1 assists, one of just five players to be above 14 points, four rebounds and seven assists this season. He ranks among the nation’s top-10 in assists per game and assist-to-turnover ratio (4.1).
Morris has scored in double figures in 26 games this season, including seven games with 20 or more points. He’s also posted seven games with 10 or more assists and is currently 25 assists away from Jamaal Tinsley’s record for assists in a single season at Iowa State.
The Flint, Michigan, native, is the Big 12’s active leader in career assists (529) and steals (164).
The winner of this award will be determined by a combination of fan votes and input from the Basketball Hall of Fame’s selection committee.
