Red Oak man awarded Certified Flight Instructor of the Year in IA

The Red Oak Airport Commission reports a flight instructor based in Red Oak, was honored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as Iowa’s Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) of the Year, for 2016. Norm Yeager was also selected as the CFI of the Year for the FAA Central Region, which includes Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky and Tennessee. As a result, he was one of eight finalists for the FAA’s National CFI of the Year award.
A ceremony honoring Yeager will be held 6:30-p.m. March 7th, at the Red Oak Airport. Snacks and punch will be provided at the event, which is open to the public. Afterward (at 7-p.m.) an FAA pilot safety meeting will be held on the topic of “Loss of Control.” The session will be conducted by the Des Moines Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) team.
