The Underwood Eagles have powered their way to a 10-0 record on the season and hope to continue that success in the second round of the playoffs.  The Eagles (10-0) will host a tough Hinton Blackhawks (9-1) squad tonight.

The Eagles defeated the I-35 Roadrunners 34-6 in their opening playoff game and got another great performance from their Senior leader at Quarterback Nick Pedersen.  Pedersen was 13-18 passing for 215 yards 2 touchdowns and 1 interception in the win. He also ran 8 times for 71 yards and a touchdown.  The Eagles also had nice performances from Senior Running Back Nick Pedersen and Junior Wide Receiver/Back Isaiah Humphrey.  Head Coach Nate Mechaelsen knows how valuable Pedersen is to the team and knows he has a well seasoned team that keeps improving.

The Hinton Blackhawks opened up their postseason with a 59-20 win over Emmetsburg and also had a great performance from their Quarterback Jay Small.  He was 9-15 passing for 166 yards and 3 Touchdowns. Senior Wingback Skyler Beller also had a big night against the E-Hawks with a 131 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns.  Hinton Co-Head Coach Steve Diediker sees a lot of similarities between his club and Underwood and he knows they will need another strong performance to try to move on.

Both coaches are well aware of the offensive efficiency their opponents have had and it may very well come down to who can make a few key defensive stops to earn a victory.  We’ll have coverage of the game tonight on KJAN AM 1220 and FM 101.1.  Join Chris Parks and Seth Christensen for the game with pregame at 6:00pm and Kickoff at 7:00pm.  You can also listen to the game online at kjan.com or on the free KJAN mobile app available in the google play store for android devices or the app store for iphone users.
