TOLEDO, Iowa (AP) – Jury selection is beginning in Tama County District Court for the first-degree murder trial of a man charged with killing his wife. Potential jurors arrived Monday at the courthouse in Toledo for the trial of Dustin Jefferson. Jefferson would face a mandatory life sentence with no possibility of parole if convicted.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – State lawmaker Rob Hogg says he’ll announce his Democratic bid for Senate during a three-day tour of the state this week. The state senator from Cedar Rapids says he’ll begin an announcement tour Tuesday in Callender. He expects to visit 12 Iowa cities to talk about his plan to run against longtime Republican Senator Chuck Grassley.
DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) – The owner of two Dubuque gasoline stations is using solar panels to power his businesses. Dozens of panels are helping power the gas stations and convenience stores owned by Waseem Serwar. The owner of a solar power installation company in Dubuque says the panels are among the first installed at gas stations in Iowa.
