Iowa DCI Investigating Missouri Valley Stabbing

Officials with the Iowa Department of Public Safety say Monday, a western Iowa man was arrested following an investigation into a stabbing. At around 2:50-a.m,. Sunday the Missouri Valley Police Department received a 911 call regarding a stabbing that had just taken place at the Shell gas station located at 103 Willow Rd, just off of I-29, in Missouri Valley. The victim, 27-year old Dustin Swanson, was transported by private vehicle to Alegent Health Community Memorial Hospital and later life flighted to University Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Swanson, who suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso, was in surgery most of the morning and is currently in stable condition.
The suspect, 30-year old Tyler Jenkins, of Logan, later surrendered to authorities and was booked into the Harrison County Jail and charged with Willful Injury.
Several Agencies are working the investigation including the Missouri Valley Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, the Harrison County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
Other charges are being considered and may be forthcoming.
