REMSEN, Iowa (AP) — A former Remsen-Union Community School District teacher has been arrested, accused of having a sexual relationship with a student while she was a teacher there. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that the Remsen Police Department and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office began a joint investigation in the case in April and believe that 24-year-old Samantha Kohls of Cedar Falls had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student while Kohls was a teacher at the school.
CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) — A Charles City man running for a school board seat has been freed on $10,000 cash bond after being charged with sexually abusing a teenage boy four years ago. The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that 59-year-old Doug Lindaman was charged Thursday with sexual abuse.
MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — Police in Mason City are asking the public for information about a 20-year-old Mason City man’s death. The Globe Gazette reports that investigators say they would like to talk with anyone who spoke to William Gerald Whipple before his death Wednesday. Whipple was found unresponsive around 4:35 p.m. Wednesday at a Mason City home.
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — West Des Moines police say they have seized a “vehicle of interest” in their investigation of a fatal hit-and-run. Police tell the Des Moines Register that they are conducting forensic testing and witness interviews in the death of 21-year-old Daulton Holly before 2 a.m. Sunday along Raccoon River Drive.
