412 AM CDT SAT AUG 1 2015… SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS MOST OF EASTERN NEBRASKA AND WESTERN IOWA TODAY AND TONIGHT…WITH THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOLDING THE BEST SHOT AT SEVERE STORMS. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL BE THE PRIMARY HAZARDS…HOWEVER AN ISOLATED TORNADO IS POSSIBLE GENERALLY OVER NORTHEAST NEBRASKA INTO WEST CENTRAL IOWA.
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS DURING THE MORNING IN CENTRAL NEBRASKA WILL WORK EAST TOWARD A NORFOLK TO LINCOLN LINE BY NOON. THESE STORMS GENERALLY WILL NOT BE SEVERE…BUT SMALL HAIL AND GUSTY WINDS WILL BE POSSIBLE.
THEN THIS AFTERNOON…THE COMBINATION OF DAYTIME HEATING… INCREASING HUMIDITY…AND STRONGER WIND SHEAR WILL LEAD TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. WHILE STORMS COULD POP UP JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE IN THE OUTLOOK AREA…THE MORE CONCENTRATED AREA OF STORMS IS EXPECTED ALONG AND NORTH OF A NORTHWARD MOVING WARM FRONT. STORM CHANCES WILL INCREASE MARKEDLY AFTER 2 PM NORTH OF A LINE FROM NEAR ALBION TO OMAHA AND COUNCIL BLUFFS. THE BEST TORNADIC POTENTIAL IS FORECAST IN SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA INTO ADJACENT SECTIONS OF NORTHEAST NEBRASKA AND NORTHWEST IOWA LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING AS THEY TRACK SOUTHEAST ACROSS EASTERN NEBRASKA AND SOUTHWEST IOWA BEFORE MOVING OFF TO THE EAST LATE TONIGHT.
