2 injured during motorcycle vs. pickup collision in Montgomery County Wed. night

A man and a teenager were hurt during a collision Wednesday night, east of Red Oak. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports the accident happened at around 9:40-p.m. on 200th Street near the intersection with K Avenue, when 16-year old Owen Riley Vondielingen, of Red Oak, attempted to make a U-turn on K Avenue from eastbound 200th Street.

The teen told authorities he saw a small light behind him prior to making the turn, but though it was farther away than it actually was. While making the u-turn, the pickup Vondielingen was driving was struck in the driver’s side door by a 1982 Honda Goldwing, occupied by the driver, 44-year old Dustin Edward Swagel, and his passenger 17-year old, Gustin Glenn Swagel, both of Stanton.

The occupants of the cycle suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported by Red Oak rescue to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Damage from the crash amounted to $7,000. Deputies cited Vondielingen for Failure to obey a stop sign,

Red Oak Police and Red Oak Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
