April 16th, 2015 by Ric Hanson
The Iowa Cubs open their home season on Friday night when they host the Oklahoma City Dodgers. I Cubs general manager Sam Bernabe says there is a different kind of buzz around the team as the home schedule approaches and it has to do with the number of top prospects on the team.
Despite being one of the smallest markets in the Pacific Coast League the I Cubs finished fifth in the league in attendance last season and Bernabe believes consistency plays a big part.
Principal Park remains a popular destination for fans even though it is no longer considered new. The most noticeable upgrade for this season is a brand new video board.
Tonight’s game is slated to start at 8:05 in Des Moines. The Iowa Cubs closed out an season opening road trip Thursday night with part of a double header in New Orleans. Iowa won the 1st game 10-7. The second game was postponed due to rain.
