Bluffs Police investigate child falling out window incident

Police in Council Bluffs were called to an apartment complex Wednesday evening to investigate, following a report a two-year old boy had fallen out a window on the second story of the building. The incident, which took place at 901 North 35th Street, was reported at around 6-p.m.According to the Omaha World-Herald, the boy was in fair condition after suffering a head injury in the fall. Police said he was taken to Nebraska Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries

Authorities said the child’s mother was in the apartment’s kitchen when the fall occurred from another room’s window. Police said the boy fell when another child opened a window and then left the room. The children’s mother told police that she heard her two-year-old fall. Authorities said it was not known whether the young boy landed on soft ground or struck a hard spot when he fell.

The case remains under investigation by the Council Bluffs Criminal Investigations Division.
