Another chance for Gonzaga to reach Sweet 16 vs. Iowa

SEATTLE (AP) — Kevin Pangos insists it’s not pressure that Gonzaga feels to finally get to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. It’s hunger to be remembered as the Gonzaga team that snapped the streak of first weekend departures. There may not be a better chance for the second-seeded Bulldogs (33-2) to reach the Sweet 16 than today’s (Sunday’s) matchup with No. 7 seed Iowa. Gonzaga will be playing essentially a home game, just four hours from its campus in an arena where they’re comfortable.

But don’t discredit the Hawkeyes. Iowa (22-11) has road wins this season at North Carolina, Ohio State and Michigan, and was the most impressive of the four winners in Seattle on Friday with its 83-52 blowout of Davidson. And the Hawkeyes can match Gonzaga’s size and athleticism at nearly every position.

Pre-game coverage begins at 5-p.m. on KJAN, with the tip-off at around 6:10.
