Authorities in Pottawattamie County say a man from Hastings was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha by helicopter, following a crash late Tuesday morning, near Council Bluffs. The Daily NonPareil, citing officials with the Pott. County Sheriff’s Office, says the head-on crash happened at around 11:20-a.m. at the intersection of 238th Street and U.S. Highway 6. The highway was closed while officials investigated the accident and the scene was being cleared.

Authorities said a white van and green Subaru collided. The driver of the van was uninjured, but the man behind the wheel of the Subaru, who was said to be in his 20’s, was knocked unconscious during the crash. The names of the drivers have not yet been released. Authorities were investigating what caused the crash.
