A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM

* SHORT TERM TRENDS…SNOW CONTINUES OVER EAST CENTRAL IOWA AND WILL REMAIN LIGHT IN INTENSITY THROUGH 6 AM. TRAVEL CONTINUES TO BE IMPACTED IN RURAL AREAS AS VISIBILITY RAPIDLY DROPS IN THE FALLING SNOW AND STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS. THE LIGHT SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO DIMINISH OVER THE NEXT 3 HOURS ACROSS THE REGION BUT BLOWING SNOW WILL CONTINUE.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…GENERALLY 1 TO 2 INCHES WITH LOCALIZED HIGHER AMOUNTS.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY…NORTHWEST WINDS TO 25 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO NEAR 40 MPH AT TIMES. VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED TO A HALF MILE OR LESS AT TIMES WHILE SNOW IS FALLING AND BLOWING. THERE MAY BE BRIEF PERIODS OF NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY IN RURAL AREAS.

* IMPACTS…VERY LOW VISIBILITY…STRONG WINDS…AND SLICK ROADS WILL MAKE TRAVEL HAZARDOUS. DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS ARE ALSO EXPECTED THROUGH THE DAYTIME HOURS TODAY OVER MUCH OF THE REGION. ACROSS THE NORTH DANGEROUS WIND CHILL VALUES WILL CONTINUE THROUGH EARLY MONDAY MORNING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT VISIBILITY WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING SNOW AROUND. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING…ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.
