…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM CST FRIDAY…
THE ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR MONONA COUNTY UNTIL 6-PM TODAY (THURSDAY)
* SHORT TERM TRENDS…LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE ACROSS NORTHERN IOWA THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. A STRONG COLD FRONT IS ABOUT TO ENTER NORTHWEST IOWA THEN MOVE ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. THE FRONT WILL SWITCH WINDS AROUND TO THE NORTHWEST AND INCREASE IN BOTH SPEED AND WIND GUSTS. * STORM TOTAL SNOW…AROUND AN INCH OR LESS.
* WINDS/VISIBILITY…A GUSTY SOUTHWEST WIND AT 20 TO 30 MPH WILL TURN TO THE NORTHWEST AND INCREASE TO 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH OR MORE LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. BLOWING SNOW WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO BELOW HALF A MILE AT TIMES THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. LOCALLY VISIBILITIES MAY DROP TO A
QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING SNOW AROUND. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING…ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.
