Doolittle leads No. 22 Iowa to 83-70 win over Northwestern

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Bethany Doolittle scored a career-high 29 points, matched her career-high with 12 rebounds and blocked 5 shots to lead Number 22 Iowa to an 83-70 win in a Big 10 showdown. The Hawkeyes (13-3, 4-1) led 41-38 at halftime against a team only allowing 56.8 points a game and shot 51 percent for the game. Ally Disterhoft had 16 points, Melissa Dixon 13 and Whitney Jennings 10 for Iowa. Samantha Logic had 6 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.
Maggie Lyon and Alex Cohen had 16 points apiece for Northwestern (13-3, 3-2) with Nia Coffey adding 12 and 15 rebounds. Doolittle, who had 13 points at halftime, got Iowa off to a quick start in the second half with two quick baskets to start an 11-0 run that Coffee ended at 14:29. Doolittle made two baskets to push the lead to 64-44 at 11:27. Northwestern shot 34.7 percent in Iowa City.
