NFL & IANG to host High School Player Development Football Camps

The Iowa National Guard, in conjunction with the National Football League, is hosting three High School Player Development (HSPD) football camps in Iowa during the month of June. The camps are completely free to all Iowa high school football players (grades 9-12). Enrollment is limited to the first 200 applicants per camp, first-come, first-served. The two-day seminars, staffed by high school coaches, will be conducted as follows (accommodations and coaches’ contact information in parentheses):
–Sioux City: June 4-5 (day camp-lunch provided-Coach Trever Case, email caset@live.siouxcityschools.com or phone 712-251-9873)
–Des Moines: June 9-10 (overnight camp-lodging and meals provided-Coach George Ashman, email gashman@woodward-granger.k12.ia.us ). Note that members of the Iowa Barnstormers will also assist with the Des Moines camp.
–Waverly: June 17-18 (day camp-lunch provided-Coach Tom Nuss, email nusst@tripoli.k12.ia.us or phone 319-239-2664). Note that members of the Cedar Rapids Titans will also assist with the Waverly camp.
The camps are FREE to all Iowa high school football players. All participants receive football skills instruction, character development, and free gear. Iowa high school coaches are also invited to attend and bring their players. To register for the camp contact the individual coaches above for the specific location. The High School Player Development program emphasizes safety and concussion awareness, character development, life skills, football fundamentals, and character development. Topics for discussion at the camps will include Center for Disease Control Player Safety and Concussion Awareness, NCAA Initial Eligibility Requirements, Time Management, Social Media and Bullying.
