THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND WIND CHILL WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM SATURDAY TO 6 AM CST SUNDAY.
* TIMING…SNOW WILL BEGIN FROM WEST TO EAST MIDDAY SATURDAY BEFORE ENDING SATURDAY NIGHT. THIS WILL BE FOLLOWED BY BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS AND MINOR BLOWING SNOW OVERNIGHT.
* STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…TWO TO SIX-INCHES OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED BY SATURDAY NIGHT.
* WINDS/VISIBILITY…NORTH WINDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH WILL LIKELY PRODUCE BLOWING SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES…ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.
* TEMPERATURES/WIND CHILL VALUES…LOWS WILL DIP INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS BELOW ZERO SATURDAY NIGHT WITH WIND CHILLS OFTEN IN THE TEENS AND 20S BELOW ZERO.
* IMPACTS…TRAVEL MAY BE IMPACT FOR AROUND A 12 HOUR PERIOD SATURDAY INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. FROST BITE AND HYPOTHERMIA MAY ALSO OCCUR IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
