Winter Storm Warnings (Update 3:40-a.m. 2/5/14)

ADAIR-ADAMS-CASS-GUTHRIE-DALLAS-MADISON-UNION-TAYLOR-and RINGGOLD COUNTIES: WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST THIS MORNING.
* SHORT TERM TRENDS…LIGHT SNOW WILL PERSIST THROUGH MID MORNING WITH ONLY FLURRIES THEREAFTER. WINDS WILL INCREASE EARLY THIS MORNING THEN TAPER OFF IN THE AFTERNOON. STORM TOTAL SNOW…5 TO 8 INCHES IN THE SOUTH, 4 TO 7-INCHES NEAR THE I-80 CORRIDOR. NORTH NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO NEAR 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO NEAR 30 MPH AT TIMES THIS MORNING. VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED BELOW A MILE AT TIMES IN BLOWING SNOW.
TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS THIS MORNING WITH WIND CHILL VALUES FALLING INTO THE TEENS BELOW ZERO. SNOW WILL BLOW AND DRIFT ACROSS ROADS THIS MORNING REDUCING VISIBILITY AND MAKING TRAVEL DIFFICULT. BITTER COLD WIND CHILLS WILL ALSO MAKE IT HAZARDOUS TO BE OUTSIDE. PLAN FOR SLOW TRAVEL TIMES AND LONGER COMMUTES AND BE SURE TO DRESS WARMLY.
