Guthrie Co. Sheriff warns about credit card phone scam
February 21st, 2014 by Ric Hanson
Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright issued a statement today (Friday), indicating that his department has been receiving complaints about a credit card phone scam. Arganbright says local residents have been receiving calls during which the caller claims the recipient of the call has had their credit card locked. The caller says in order to get the card reinstated, a fee must be paid.
Sheriff Arganbight reminds residents, especially in this situation, to never give out their information or pay the fee over the phone. Hang up and call your credit card provider directly to check on your card’s status.
