Winter weather brings snow, wind to Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowans are dealing with another blast of winter weather that has caused snarled traffic and threatened to dump nearly a half-foot of snow on some areas. All of Iowa is under some type of weather advisory from the National Weather Service. Most of the northwestern half is under a winter weather advisory, with much of the southwestern half is under a wind advisory, with gusts of 45 mph or higher expected until sunset.
At Iowa City, a multi-vehicle pileup blamed on bad weather shut down the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 on Saturday morning. At least one lane had reopened by late morning. The National Weather Service says a fast-moving winter storm could dump as much as 5 inches of snow in and around the Dubuque area on Saturday.
