Northern Iowa beats Evansville 80-53

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Matt Bohannon scored 17 points with 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range on Wednesday night as Northern Iowa earned its first road win of the season 80-53 over Evansville. UNI shot 14 of 30 from 3-point range and capitalized on Evansville’s 11 first-half turnovers. The Panthers opened on a 15-4 run, led by as much as 22 in the first half and held a 43-24 advantage at break.

Bohannon made all five of his 3-pointers in the second half. His fourth 3-pointer with 9:55 to play put UNI up 67-33. Seth Tuttle had 14 points and seven rebounds for the UNI (8-7, 2-1 Missouri Valley) and Wes Washpun scored 12.

Blake Simmons finished with 16 points, the only double-digit scorer for Evansville (7-9, 0-3). D.J. Balentine entered the game averaging 22.7 points per game for the Aces, but finished with only eight points — his first single-digit game of the year.
