DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A Republican county election official is pushing Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz to investigate how three legitimate voters incorrectly appeared on a list of felons ineligible to vote in the 2012 presidential election. Cerro Gordo County Auditor Ken Kline says one person who was never convicted of a felony and two ex-felons whose voting rights had been restored were denied votes.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a Cedar Rapids man fatally shot his wife and mother-in-law before turning the gun on himself. The Cedar Rapids Police Department says the bodies of 73-year-old Linda Huber, 41-year-old Ingrid Huber Livingston and 47-year-old Robert Livingston were found yesterday morning. The couple has two minor children, but they were not hurt.
ARLINGTON, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have released the names of five people whose bodies were retrieved from a northeast Iowa house completely destroyed by an early morning fire. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said yesterday that the people found in the rumble of the January 24th fire near Arlington were 84-year-old Gil Stachar; 30-year-old James McCain; 27-year-old Amanda Lynn Smith-Miller; 4-year-old Delacisey Seales; and 1-year-old Isabella Miller.
CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (AP) — A truck crash along Interstate 35 in northern Iowa caused a load of oranges to tumble over the side of a bridge and onto railroad tracks below. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened yesterday morning in Clear Lake when the driver lost control of his truck in icy conditions.
