…FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING…
* SHORT TERM TRENDS…FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CONTINUE ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA THIS MORNING. AREAS OF FREEZING RAIN MAY DEVELOP BY MID TO LATE MORNING. TEMPERATURES ACROSS FAR SOUTHERN IOWA WILL RISE ABOVE FREEZING BY MID TO LATE MORNING. DESPITE THIS…COLD GROUND TEMPERATURES WILL KEEP THE POTENTIAL FOR ICING ON THE COLDER SURFACES HIGH.
* STORM TOTAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS…A FEW HUNDREDTHS OF AN INCH.
* IMPACTS…THE VERY COLD GROUND TEMPERATURES WILL CAUSE INSTANT FREEZING AND GLAZING ON ROADWAYS AND WALKWAYS. TRAVEL MAY BECOME VERY DIFFICULT AT TIMES. LIGHT ICING WILL CONTINUE FOR SOME TIME EVEN AFTER AIR TEMPERATURES RISE ABOVE FREEZING.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS. SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
