A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO NOON CST MONDAY, FOR AUDUBON-CARROLL-CASS-CRAWFORD-GUTHRIE-HARRISON-MONONA-POTTAWATTAMIE-SAC AND SHELBY COUNTIES.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS…WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE GRADUALLY TONIGHT THROUGH THE NIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING. WINDS WILL BECOME GUSTY WITH SOME BLOWING SNOW IN OPEN AREAS AS WELL.

* IMPACTS…COLD WIND CHILLS OF 20 TO 25 BELOW ZERO WILL DEVELOP TOWARD SUNRISE MONDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS. SOME BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW IN OPEN AREAS IS ALSO POSSIBLE.

* WIND CHILL VALUES…WIND CHILL VALUES OF 20 TO 25 MPH WILL ARE EXPECTED FROM 3 AM UNTIL NOON MONDAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS…MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
