Harlan Police report 3 arrests

Authorities in Harlan report three people were arrested over the course of the past week. On Nov. 7th, 52-year old John Piper, was taken into custody when an off-duty Harlan Police officer had an altercation with him in the 1600 block of Chatburn Ave. Piper was in possession of a HyVee shopping cart full of groceries that were not in bags. The groceries and cart were taken to HyVee where they were identified as stolen. The value estimate of the groceries and cart was approximately $360.
Piper was transported, by an on-duty officer, to the Shelby County Jail where he was charged with assault on a peace officer, 4th degree theft and public intoxication. The officer went to Myrtue Medical Center where he was treated and released with minor injuries.
On Sunday (Nov. 10th), 28-year old Tarren Baldogo, of Halbour, was arrested in Harlan, following a traffic stop. Baldogo was taken to the Shelby County Jail where she was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
And on Tuesday (Nov. 12th) 44-year old Clinton Scheffler, of Harlan, was arrested at the Shelby County court house when officers observed him trying to talk to Lachelle Petersen. There was a no contact order in effect between both Scheffler and Petersen. Scheffler was transported to the Shelby County Jail where he was charged with violating a no contact order.
