An 86-year old man from Missouri Valley died after the car he was driving was rear-ended by a pickup truck Saturday morning on Interstate 680. The Iowa State Patrol says Donald Dean Obrecht, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the collision at around 7:15-a.m.

Officials say Obrecht’s 1999 Chevy Cavalier was westbound on I-680 just past the I-80 split, when his care was hit from behind by a 2001 Ford F-250 driven by 39-year old Mark Anthony Kaufman, of Harlan. Following the collision, the car came to rest in the median, while the pickup stopped on the shoulder of the road. Kaufman was not injured in the crash. Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
