Buenting, a married father of two, was shot during a standoff early Friday in Rockwell City. Police arrested 32-year-old Corey Trott and charged him with first-degree murder in Buenting’s death. Buenting’s 7-year-old daughter, Kalie, read a note at her father’s funeral she penned after his death, asking God to make sure he “gets the best place in Heaven.”
