The Iowa State Patrol has released additional details about a crash that involved a cement truck Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 29 in northwestern Mills County. Officials said this (Thursday) morning, the driver of the truck, 58-year old Arleen Wanda Kinter, of Riceville, who was wearing her seat belt, was transported by Lewis Township Fire and Rescue to Creighton University Hospital in Omaha.
Authorities report the truck, registered to Cedar Valley Corporation in Waterloo, was traveling north on I-29 at around 2-p.m., Wednesday, when the front left tire blew out, causing Kinter to lose control. The truck left the road to the left, crossed the median and rolled onto its left side, partially blocking the right lane of southbound I-29. Access to southbound I-29 from I-80 was shut down for about 2-hours following the crash.
