Fire destroys house near Oakland

A fire northwest of Oakland Friday afternoon totaled a home, but no injuries were reported. According to the Daily NonPareil, firefighters from Oakland, Carson and Macedonia and elsewhere, responded to the blaze at 22859 400th Street, at around 2:30-p.m., Friday. A passing motorist had reported smoke and flames coming from the home.
By the time the first fire crews arrived on the scene, the structure was fully engulfed. Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s officials said they believed the occupant was out of town at the time of the blaze. The cause of the fire was unknown Friday.
