…HEAVY RAINS POSSIBLE INTO SATURDAY…
AREA COUNTIES: SAC-CRAWFORD-CARROLL-GREENE-AUDUBON-GUTHRIE-DALLAS-CASS-ADAIR-MADISON-ADAMS-UNION-TAYLOR-RINGGOLD. …FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING…
THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES THROUGH THIS EVENING. RECENT RAINFALL HAS PRODUCED SEVERAL INCHES OF RAINFALL ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA…AND ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO PASS THROUGH THE WATCH AREA LATER TODAY. AMPLE MOISTURE WILL BE AVAILABLE AND THESE STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE TO THREE INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON WITH ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS.
GIVEN THE SATURATED CONDITIONS…EXCESSIVE RUNOFF MAY BECOME A PROBLEM VERY QUICKLY LEADING TO FLASH FLOODING. IN ADDITION, THE RUNOFF WILL EVENTUALLY PASS INTO LARGE STREAMS AND RIVERS WHICH MAY LEAD TO RIVER FLOODING. SIGNIFICANT AND LIFE THREATENING FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE.
PERSONS LIVING IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS! AS LITTLE AS 6 INCHES OF RUNNING WATER CAN SWEEP A VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. IN ADDITION…SIGNIFICANT RIVER FLOODING IS POSSIBLE AFTER THIS EVENT.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
