THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A
* FLOOD WARNING FOR…
GREENE COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL IOWA…
NORTHERN GUTHRIE COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL IOWA…
* UNTIL 900 AM CDT TUESDAY
AT 845 AM CDT…GREENE COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED
HIGHWAY 4 NORTH BETWEEN CHURDAN AND JEFFERSON WAS CLOSED DUE TO
WATER OVER THE ROAD. HIGHWAY 25 SOUTH OF SCRANTON AND EAST 63 STREET
BETWEEN J AVENUE AND R AVENUE WERE CLOSED DUE TO WATER OVER ROAD.
THE CITY OF JEFFERSON CONTINUE TO HAVE MANY ROADS WITH WATER OVER
THEM.
AT 845 AM CDT…GUTHRIE COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED
VICTORY AVENUE WAS CLOSED JUST NORTH OF 110TH STREET NEAR JAMAICA
AND A CLOSURE NEAR 120TH AND ROSE AVENUE.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS…COUNTRY ROADS…AS WELL AS FARMLAND ALONG THE
BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.
FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE
YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS…RIVERS…OR CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME
KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS AND HIKERS SHOULD AVOID STREAMS OR
CREEKS.
