THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A
* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
EASTERN CASS COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST IOWA...
NORTHWESTERN ADAIR COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST IOWA...
WESTERN ADAMS COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST IOWA...
* UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT
* AT 607 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE
WARNED AREA. SPOTTERS REPORTED OVER 1.25 INCHES OF RAIN IN LESS
THAN AN HOUR OVER WESTERN ADAMS COUNTY...AND WITH ADDITIONAL
THUNDERSTORMS RADAR ESTIMATES 2 TO 2.5 INCHES OF RAIN HAS ALREADY
FALLEN. MORE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN ARE EXPECTED TO PRODUCE
ANOTHER INCH OF RAIN IN TWO HOURS.
* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO
OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...
CORNING...GREENFIELD AND STUART.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...COUNTRY ROADS...AS WELL AS FARMLAND ALONG THE
BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
