Hawkeyes host Big Ten leader WI tonight (Saturday)

Iowa takes a 1-3 Big Ten mark into a match-up at home against Wisconsin, tonight (Saturday). The Badgers lead the Big Ten with a 4-0 record after a stunning victory at second ranked Indiana but Iowa coach Fran McCaffery is not surprised by the Badgers early success. He says with Wisconsin, “It almost doesn’t matter who’s there. It’s a system in-place, a mentality that they have, that are going to compete, they’re going to play well. They have guys that can shoot, defend and execute.” McCaffery says “They’re going to be hard to beat.”
Iowa officials will honor the 20th anniversary of the death of former Hawkeye Chris Street at Saturday’s game. McCaffery says Street’s legacy is still a big part of the program. He says there’s a golf outing and a foundation in Street’s name, and people still talk about him and how he played the game. McCaffrey says “It’s important that his legacy be remembered, and that the connection is maintained.” He thinks tonight’s game will be an emotional time for a lot of people.
Pre-game coverage of tonight’s game begins at 6 o’clock, here on KJAN.
