DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Jordan Ashton scored 20 points and Mount Pleasant hung on for an epic 66-62 win in double overtime over Epworth, Western Dubuque in the Class 3A title game Saturday night. Blake Vandenberg added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers (26-1), who blew a 10-point lead but rallied in double-OT after Ashton had fouled out. Western Dubuque star TJ Lake missed two free throws with 12 seconds left in the first overtime that would have iced the game. Dalton Conrad’s 3 seven seconds later pushed the game into double overtime. Vandenberg scored five quick points after that, and Mount Pleasant hit their free throws en route to their first state title since 1918. Lake had 20 points and Cameron James scored 19 for Western Dubuque (24-3).
