Chiefs Sign Free Agent OT Eric Winston

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – The Kansas City Chiefs agreed to contracts with veteran offensive tackle Eric Winston and quarterback Brady Quinn on Saturday. Winston was released by the Houston Texas on Monday in a surprising move that saved the team about $4.5 million against the salary cap. He had started every game he played in over the past five seasons at right tackle. Winston will also play on the right side for the Chiefs. He takes over for Barry Richardson, who became a free agent after struggling much of last season. Quinn hasn’t appeared in a regular-season game since 2009 with Cleveland. He was a backup with Denver last season. Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli called upgrading the offensive line a priority this offseason.
