DNR Open House on Dams in Atlantic
July 19th, 2011 by admin
A DNR open house is coming to Atlantic in a couple weeks to help answer landowner’s questions about dams.
To assist local residents that own property with a dam and also owners of larger dams, the DNR is hosting seven open houses across the state this summer in cooperation with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. The session in Atlantic will primarily focus on maintaining dams and constructing ponds on an owners property.
Attendees will be able to ask DNR and NRCS staff questions about maintaining dams, constructing new ponds, fish management and stocking, regulations regarding dams, available technical and financial assistance, and water quality.
Those considering building a new pond or lake, as well as professionals who assist landowners with pond construction and maintenance, may also want to attend.
The Atlantic meeting is August 2nd at the Rock Island Depot from 3:00 to 7:00.
